\begin{abstract}
A polarized muon beam traversing matter, as for example, in the ionization cooling channel, suffers de-polarization effects induced by energy loss ($\mu~-~e$ elastic scattering) and by multiple scattering ($\mu$~-~Coulomb elastic scattering). These effects have been shown to be negligible for muons essentially at rest. We extend the analysis to relativistic muons and suggest a simple algorithm that could be implemented in simulation codes.
