Abstract:
Alternating solenoid cooling channel with engineering constraint
is designed for the neutrino factory. The cooling channel
with 201.25MHz rf cavities
has a maximum magnetic fields of 3.4T on z-axis and 6T on solenoid
with current density of $58A/mm^2$. Minimum beta-function is 15cm,
which shows the smallest among cooling channels
that have been designed for the neutrino factory.
Correlated-Gaussian beam and LBNL upstream beam are considered
as initial beams for the cooling channel. Normalized transverse emittance
of 1500 mm-mrad is obtained in 150m cooling channels,
which satisfies requirement (1500mm-mrad) of the Neutrino Factory.
Transverse cooling result is also compared with that of
analytical formula, which shows good agreement.
