Abstract:
We present a new analytic approach for beam dynamics study of
periodic focusing channels based on the Fourier coefficients of
the focusing function. Formulae for phase advance and the
envelope function are derived which are useful for numerical
calculation and for developing analytical understanding of the
channel's performance. Applications for muon ionization cooling
channels are discussed.
