Abstract:
This note applies the Moliere theory to scattering in
32 cm of hydrogen for 186 MeV/c muons. The loss in energy of
about 10 MeV is not included in the calculations. I believe
that the inelastic scattering of the muons from the atomic
electrons is included properly. They contributes to the
central gaussian, but not the single scattering tail. The
scattering is compared to the usual Thomas-Fermi Model where
the electrons are included by using Z(Z + 1). A table of
B is given for thicknesses of hydrogen down to 1/8 cm.
