Double Field Flip Cooling Channel with Parabolic Absorbers.

Abstract.

New version of a double field flip cooling channel is considered.
The main distinction from the last design [1] is a using of parabolic LiH absorbers
to create energy -- transverse momentum correlation after the field flips.
It allows to minimize the longitudinal perturbations and to get high transmission
without significant acceleration of the beam at the cooling
which was used in old channel (200 -- 327 MeV total energy).
Now the same result is achieved by acceleration from 200 to 228 MeV.
The decrease of the average energy allows to get more cooling rate
and to reach the same beam parameters (2 mm transverse emittance)
by 50 m shorter channel.
Actually the most expansive 7 T part is shortened from 119 m to 69 m,
so that the full length is now 166.4 m.
