Abstract:
This is a revision of our MUCOOL note 222, "Linear Theory of transverse
and longitudinal ionization cooling in a quadrupole channel".
We included a neglected coefficient 1/gamma^2 in the longitudinal hamiltonian
Eq. (1), related changes in Eqs. (2) and (3), and correction in I_1(s)
of Eq. (7) and I(s) in Eq. (11). A couple of typoes in Eq. (11) are
corrected as well. No changes in the results. Speacial thank to D. Neuffer
for pointing out our neglegence of the 1/gamma^2 coefficient in the
longitudinal hamiltonian.
