Abstract
A recirculating muon cooling system based on a ring accelerator is considered.
The ring cooler of about 37 m in circumference consists of 8 dipole magnets,
4 short solenoids with field flips $\pm 2.7$~T, and 4 long solenoids with
adiabatic field 2.1 -- 5.2 T. The 205 MHz cavities in the long SS provide
accelerating gradient 15 MeV/m. Four 1.28 m liquid hydrogen absorbers are
used for transverse cooling, and 14 cm lithium hydride wedge absorbers are
applied in the short SS for longitudinal cooling by emittance exchange.
Performances of the cooler are considered, results of the cooling simulation
are provided, and the problems of injection and extraction are discussed.
