Abstract:
Cooling Efficiency Factor

A local cooling efficiency factor Q6 is defined by

Q6(z)= (relative change of emittance)/(relative change of flux)

Approximate equations for Q6 are given. The required average value
of Q6 for the Collider Feasibility Study parameters is 20. It is
shown that this value is achieved briefly in an RFOFO Ring without
windows. Many rings, or continuous cooling with tapering, would
appear needed to meet this requirement for a complete system.
