Abstract:

An Alternating Solenoid Focused Cooling Ring without Tilted Solenoids

Abstract

RFOFO like ring cooler without an inclination of solenoids is considered.
Bend of the trajectory is accomplished by vertical magnetic field on edges of the solenoids.
All the solenoids are arranged in a plane; however the closed orbit is not flat
having a difference of hight about $\pm 6$~cm.
Shape of closed orbit, dispersion function, and eigenvalues of transfer matrix
are calculated, and beta-function of the ring is estimated.
Results of first cooling simulation (without optimization) are presented and discussed.
