Optimization of a channel with cavities of approximately 200 MHz is described.
After a drift space, a bunch strucure is imposed adiabatically on the muons
emanating from the target. This is followed by a bunch rotator which rotates
the bunches in (E,t)-space prior to cooling. Optimization relies on simulations
with the program SIMUCOOL. Based on criteria which maximize phase space density
relative to bucket size, the optimization achieved compare very favorably with
earlier work.
